Sri Poovadaikaari Amman
The Divine Mother of Grace, Protection and Inner Wisdom
Sri Poovadaikaari Amman is worshipped at Natpukovil in a distinctive and serene form. The Goddess is represented from the hip upward, emerging from a sacred lotus peedam, with a seven-headed naga rising behind Her as a protective umbrella. Her right hand holds a lotus bud, while Her raised left hand displays Chin Mudra.
Devotees may approach Amman with reverence, seeking courage, clarity, protection, peace and the grace to move through life with steadiness.

திருவுருவம்
The divine form
The iconography of Sri Poovadaikaari Amman at Natpukovil is visually distinctive.
Half form from the hip
Only the upper half of the Goddess is visible; She rises directly from the lotus peedam — a composed, powerful presence.
The lotus peedam
Purity, spiritual unfolding, and remaining inwardly untouched amid the complexities of the world.
The seven-headed naga
Seven cobra hoods rise behind Her and spread above Her crown — vigilance, shelter and divine guardianship.
Right hand — lotus bud
Potential, purity, hope and the gradual blossoming of spiritual awareness.
Left hand — Chin Mudra
Thumb and index finger joined in a circle: knowledge, awareness and the bond of the individual with the Supreme.
Amman alangaram
Crown, silk drapery, temple jewellery, kumkum and garlands — maternal compassion with divine majesty.
The lotus & Chin Mudra
Purity in the hand, wisdom in the gesture
The lotus bud suggests something sacred preparing to blossom; Chin Mudra points inward, toward awareness and understanding. Together they carry a simple message: let devotion blossom with purity, and let knowledge guide the mind with clarity.
