Sri Saptha Maathaa

The Seven Divine Mothers

Sri Saptha Maathaa — the Seven Mothers — are a revered group of seven goddess forms. In South Indian temple worship they are Brahmi, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani and Chamundi. Each embodies a distinct expression of divine Shakti, while the group is worshipped as one protective presence.

At Natpukovil they are placed on the left side of the Sri Aathma Lingam sanctum, facing north, bringing the protective and maternal dimension of Shakti into the shrine.
